Some people travel to Japan for the food.
And some people travel to Japan for the make-up and clothes.
Me, well, I travel to Japan for the sakura.

Something about this delicate flower has always captivated me and I promised myself that this year I would take a trip out to Japan to finally see the spring flowers in full bloom.
Tokyo was the next city on my Japan hit-list so we booked the tickets and were off a long girls weekend.
We landed in Tokyo right at the end of the viewing season. Spring showers began to shake the petals from the trees and clouds shrouded the city in a melancholy, enchanting display.

Despite the rain, both locals and visitors took to the streets to enjoy the last sakura sightings.
Even a few girls in their spring yukata were searching for remaining blossoms.

Pink laced the city as Tokyo began to awake from its grey, winter hibernation.
You could even find street-side cafes offering sakura flavored matcha tea lattes, a local treat this time of year.

Just outside Tokyo on the shores of Lake Kawaguchiko I was pleased to see the rain had yet to take the full blooms.
With Mt. Fuji in the distance and the sakura’s pink petals paired with the beautiful blue sky, I felt like I was in a cotton candy dream.
